The flood has reportedly affected more than 15 families.
This was informed by Anchal Chairperson of 13th Pakke Kessang CD Block, Devi Changrang Teli.
Anchal Chairperson informed that marooned villagers are taking shelter at Taza Happa Circle Headquarter building since last two weeks.
The flood has forced School to stop classes as there is no alternate place for teaching, she added.
"The flash flood has marooned more than fifteen families rendering them homeless. Now they are taking shelter at Taza Happa Circle Headquarter" said Devi Changrang Teli.

The affected village comes under Seijosa ADC and it is said that relief funds were immediately handed over to the administration by the state government.
Meanwhile, East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk informed that considering the communication problem of Seijosa, he accompanied by SP and EAC visited the affected villages on July 9 and provided relief materials.
DC claimed that without waiting for relief amount from the government, the district administration has provided relief materials to affected people. He also said that relief amount would be transferred through Public Finance Management System and the detailed report of damages and losses will be submitted to government soon.
RK Mission Hospital denies report of water crisis
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: After report emerged that water crisis had led to cancellation of schedule surgeries in RK Mission hospital, Chief Engineer PHE &WS department Er Toko Jyoti visited the hospital and took stock of the situation on Saturday. Accompanied by Executive Engineer, Capital Complex Er Tadar Mangku and Assistant Engineer Debia Padang, the officials inspected water tank installed inside hospital premises and later met Secretary RKM Swami Vishweshananda.
The Secretary claimed that no surgery has been cancelled as reported in this daily and that hospital is functioning normally.
"On Friday, four scheduled and two emergency surgeries were successfully conducted. One surgery had to be cancelled due to technical reason while two patients sought discharge and opted to undergo operation at a later stage," said Swami Vishweshananda. However, he did acknowledge that during initial period of water crisis, hospital struggled to cope.
"From July 10 to 12 when pipeline broke down for the first time, we faced serious water crisis. However, learning from the experience, we have installed two tanks with capacity of 8000 litre capacity and 6000 litre respectively for OT and OPD section from our own source. So question of water crisis does not arise. PHE department has been actively supporting us and even in this time of crisis, they have provided sufficient water to the hospital," he added.
Chief Engineer Er Toko Jyoti informed that department has given top priority to RK Mission and Tomo Riba hospital.
"We have arranged separate line for RKM from Lappu Nallah and Senki park tank. There is PHED water tank inside hospital with 4.5 lakh litre capacity. Water is being supplied 24 hours and at present water volume in the tank is 3.00 lakh litres," said Chief Engineer. He also said that department has posted a regular staff at RKM hospital water tank to monitor the flow of water.
Further, he appealed to the people not to level unsubstantial allegation stating that it demoralizes those who are working round the clock to restore the water supply.

APSCW seeks regular hotel checks
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Following arrest of several women and under aged girls by police on suspicion of being sex workers on Friday, the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) appealed to the district administration and police to conduct unannounced visits of all the hotels to check sex rackets. It said that hotels are not strictly checking the customer IDs allowing such activities to thrive.
The commission, along with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Itanagar Capital Complex and members of Arunachal Pradesh Women's Welfare Society (APWWS) visited the Women Police Station, Itanagar to conduct a preliminary enquiry.
During the enquiry, it was found that they were running flesh trade from various hotels across the Capital Complex.
The Commission who counseled the girls said that most of them were involved as sex workers due to weak economic background, broken families and weak parenting.

MP inaugurates suspension bridge

RUKSIN, Jul 29: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering on Saturday inaugurated a suspension bridge over Sika Korong at Sika Bamin village under Pasighat West constituency.
The bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 12 lakh funded under the MP's Local Area
Development Fund during 2016-
Construction of suspension bridge will help the village people as this bridge connects the village with agricultural lands at other side of the stream, said Head Gaon Burah (HGB) of Siaka Bamin Tali Taki.
Prior to this, he said, the villagers faced lots of hardships in crossing the stream, especially during rainy season.
Later, Ering visited the Govt. Secondary School, Sika Bamin and interacted with the students and teachers. The MP sanctioned 10 ceiling fans for the schools.

Christians suffered under Congress: BJP
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: State BJP Vice President Dominic Tadar said that it was during Indira Gandhi's Congress regime that Christian people of the state had to suffer.
He was responding to question about atrocities and persecutions on Christians in the country under BJP regime at an event in Raga Assembly Constituency recently.
"Christians were persecuted, houses burnt, property looted and heavy fines imposed in between 1974 to 1976 in Arunachal Pradesh especially in Papum Pare region" he said while sharing the story of his own father.
Tadar said that he was living example as a Christian leader in BJP and has never seen or faced any sort of discrimination and persecutions since his long innings with the party.
Policy on SSA teachers as regular employees soon: CM
TAWANG, July 29: Chief Minister informed that education department has been directed to come up with a policy to absorb SSA teachers as regular state government employees.
He said that the job regularization of SSA teachers is a burning problem as many of these teachers have given more than 10 years of service and many are on the verge of crossing upper age limit to apply for job in govt sectors.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu said this during a visit to the newly established Government College here, which began its classes from July 25 last.
He informed that in July cabinet sitting, 67 posts of Assistant Professors has been sanctioned for which the recruitment will be carried out soon while more than 1500 posts of teachers in govt schools are being created.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the facilities in the college campus, which is functioning from its temporary campus at Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium and Govt. Primary School.
The Chief Minister said the establishment of the college had to be done in a hurried manner, as absence of institute of higher education in the district took a great toll on students.
He said students from Tawang earlier had to go outside the district for higher education, which many poor families couldn't afford.
The Chief Minister informed that state government has allocated Rs 10 crore for the college and requested the administration and the department to speed up construction works for academic and hostel buildings in the permanent campus.
The Chief Minister donated Rs 5 lakhs for the college. He also assured to donate funds through Dorjee Khandu Trust to Tawang Monpa Employees Society (TMES) for establishment of a coaching centre in Tawang to train students to appear for various competitive exams.
Earlier speaking on the occasion, Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi appealed to the students to bring good name to the college.

Today, more and more people are migrating to urban towns and cities in search of better education for children, better facilities, better medical facilities and better lives! The increased migration is leading to increased houses, rent houses which is further leading to increase in colonies and settlements. New colonies and settlements are leading to increased shops, bazaars and offices. New areas with jungles, hills, rivulets are being developed for new settlements. The demand for new housing is such that many open areas, gardens, streams are also being encroached upon. In many cases even govt areas and forest areas are not spared. These new settlements are mushrooming in an unplanned manner. Most expansions of the towns are dictated by local people with the local authorities reacting only after the colonies have come up!
Increased population in new settlements has multiplied the demand for new electric connections, water connections and infrastructure like roads, drainage etc. Due to unplanned expansion of our towns, the addition of new settlements is not being matched by similar increase in essential infrastructure like electricity, water supply, roads, drainages etc. This is leading to acute shortages of essential services like electricity, water supply, drainages, roads etc.
Increased population and increased income has also led to sharp increase in numbers
of vehicles. There are so many vehicles that there is acute lack of parking space.
One lane of many roads are just being used for parking vehicles. Our roads are unable
to cater to this increase in vehicles and traffic. Even in our small towns, there
are chaotic traffic jams and commuters are spending hours in their vehicles. Sometimes

Due to contamination of drains and sewages with plastic packets and non degradable waste most drains and sewages are blocked. Due to lack of suitable drainage and blocked drains/sewerages, many roads, localities, bazaars get clogged with water accumulation after few hours of rainfall. Many of our roads are not constructed with any slope and few roads/localities do not have drains at all.
This leads to water clogging and accumulation after few hours of rainfall.
To rectify these anomalies, municipal councils were recently established in many towns. However, with the enormity of the task at hand, in some cases the towns have become dirtier and chaotic after the formation of municipal councils! One solution maybe is to develop our small towns and villages into independent, clean and livable entities. May be that will slow down this craze of urban migration! We need to pay more attention to planning and expansion of our towns. Don't we want to live in clean, orderly and well planned towns? Shouldn't we be proud of our towns?
DRDA strike suspended
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: The All India DRDA Staff Welfare Association Arunachal Pradesh, State Unit has temporarily called off its ongoing pen down/tool down agitation following constitution of committee by the state government to work towards their demands.
In a press statement today, the agitating association, however, stated that it would resume agitation anytime if the constituted committee's proposal is delayed or their demand denied by the government.
The DRDA staff have been demanding for absorption of staff by creating 582 posts in the Rural Development Department and regular disbursement of salary.
CEO threatens Traffic Wardens
ITANAGAR, Jul 28: The Chief Estate Officer has threatened to discontinue the services of the Traffic Wardens without further notice.
This warning came after the Traffic wardens decided to go ahead with whistle down strike on August 7.
In a release, CEO Talo Potom stated that whistle down would amount to violation of the terms and condition of their engagement on Master Roll basis as Traffic Wardens and whoever is found absent from August 7 onwards shall automatically be discontinued from further service without notice.
Namsai gets New Bus Station
NAMSAI, Jul 29: Parliamentary Secretary Chau Zingnu Namchoom on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed APST Bus Station at Namsai.

DDMA and NDRF conduct Community Awareness Programme in Lohit

Launched on July 18, Community Awareness Programme (CAP) witnessed participation of school teachers and students, government employees, villagers, hospitals and police personnel as well as nongovernmental organizations, PRIs and GBs numbering more than 3000.
The first day was held in Tezu DC Office, followed by district Hospital, Govt Sec. Schools Tezu, Wakro, Medo and Telluliang, Loiliang, Indira Gandhi Govt College, GHSS Jeko, Sunpura and at BRC Hall, Tezu.
Lohit district is one of the most flood affected districts in the state and therefore vulnerable to disaster.
NDRF Team headed by Inspector Upen Ch. Nath and SI Md. Nausad Khan gave presentation cum demonstration on earthquake safety, techniques of search and rescue, methods of pre hospital treatment before, during and after any disaster.
The team also presented drill on CPR, choking, shock, and excess bleeding, fire, road and flood safety.
They also displayed SAR technique and other disaster related equipments to the first responders during an event of disaster.
DC Lohit appreciated the 12th BN NDRF Team for imparting training, especially to the students.
DDMO, Tezu Damchin Norbu requested the NDRF to conduct more awareness programme to the people of the district due to its vulnerability to various types of disaster.
Address problems before implementingnew projects: Teachers
NAMSAI, Jul 29: The Namsai unit of the All Arunachal Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Teachers' Association (AASSATA) appealed to the state government to address all the aspects and problems of the education department efficiently and collectively before making modifications and implementing new projects and programmes.
The Namsai unit, AASSATA claimed that after the rationalization process has been put into effect, teachers now have to travel 70 to 100 km to perform their duties.
While it welcomed the process of transfer and posting of teachers across the state as per the requirement of the respective schools, the district unit of AASSATA said that it was equally important to provide basic infrastructure like teacher's quarter if this system is to be truly effective.
It also claimed that SSA teachers do not enjoy any HRA, which adds to the distress of the SSA teachers.
"The most tough and disheartening part is that the teachers have to manage the expenses on their own to reach their respective schools, that too with a salary that comes generally six to seven months late", the Association said.
Further, on the introduction of the Smart Class project, the Association said that it is of little use as several schools across Arunachal Pradesh are yet to get power connections.
"Introducing new programmes and policies without first addressing other aspects and loopholes in the department sometimes only makes the scenario worse", it added.
APESU knocks the door of Governor
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Arunachal Physical Education and Sports Union (APESU) on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the Governor appealing for creation of various posts to recruit the unemployed Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) degree holders.
In its memorandum, APESU informed the Governor that BPEd degree holders of the state, who did their graduation from the Regional College of Physical Education, Tripura on state quota 10 years ago are still jobless as there has been no advertisement for their recruitment.
We have approached the government and the department concerned many times; but our appeals tragically remained unheard, stated APESU.
Recently, the students' union submitted a similar memorandum to the Chief Minister.
APESUs demands included immediate creation of TGT and PGT level posts of PET for every government school, five posts of Assistant Sports Officers, appointment of District Sports Officers in every district, creation of the posts of District Youth Officer and Assistant District Youth Officer, age relaxation as per TGT teacher and immediate creation of post of Assistant Director of Physical Education.
Meanwhile, APESU informed that the Governor has assured to hold a meeting with the concern department and minister on August one to discuss the issue of creation of posts.
Awareness prog on disaster preparedness
PANGIN, Jul 29: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Siang in close coordination with the Directorate of Fire Services, Naharlagun, Police and Medical Department organized awareness programmes on disaster management and preparedness in various places in the district from July 25.
The fourth and last of the series of programmes was conducted at Boleng on Friday, wherein Siang Deputy Commissioner Rahul Singh and Boleng ADC T Pado attended.
PC Roy, SFO, Fire Station Naharlagun gave various disaster preparedness tips and dos and don'ts in the event of fire and various other natural calamities through PowerPoint. Demonstration on disaster management and response were also conducted.
The programme held at General Ground was largely attended by the students of GHSS, Boleng.
The awareness programme was kick started at Kerang Village on July 25 and similar programmes were conducted at Kaying and Pangin also.
The programme saw mass participation from students, teachers and general public.
In Pangin, all HoDs and other officers actively participated in the programme, which also focused on imparting knowledge on first aid, role of various stakeholders during disasters apart from precautionary and preventive measures.
Detailed information about the role, responsibilities and functions of DDMA was also highlighted in order to familiarize the participants with the Department as it is the nodal department to deal with disasters in a district. DIPRO
Drug peddler nabbed
CHANGLANG, Jul 29: Acting on a tip off, a team of police led by OC Diyun Police Station, SI Ajay Kumar conducted a search operation at Diyun Market on Thursday and nabbed a drug peddler identified as Kakan Chakma @ Milan Chakma of Maitripur village under Diyun Police Station. The police also recovered nine packets of suspected brown sugar from his possession.
A case under NDPS 1985 was registered and investigation is on.
During interrogation, the Chakma revealed that he had purchased the recovered drugs from Innao area. Accordingly, with the help of arrested accused, the police conducted a search operation in a small hut in the middle of a paddy field on the outskirt area of Innao on Friday and recovered and seized two packets of suspected brown sugar.

DCM meets BJP and PWD on flagship projects
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein met the representatives of the Department of Good Governance and Centre State Coordination of State BJP to discuss the flagship projects and schemes implemented by the Public Works Department in the State in Itanagar today.
He lauded the initiative of the BJP to keep an eye on the working of the State Govt which would also help the State Govt functionaries to remain alert and function effectively. This department will also serve as a medium of communication between the Centre and the State Govt, he added.
He also informed that the PWD department has already been instructed to gear up and carry out restoration works of roads and bridges on war footing that was damaged by landslides and floods over the last few months across the State.

CM launches Rescue and Relief Team of SSB
TAWANG, Jul 29: Chief Minister Pema Khandu Saturday launched the Rescue and Relief Team (RRT) of SHQ SSB, Bomdila in its 38th BN campus in Tawang.
Speaking at the function, Pema said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has seriously taken about recurring disasters in the country and it wants to get the relief and rescue operation handled by trained personnel.
The Chief Minister thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and MoS Home Kiren Rijiju for launching the Rescue and Relief Team countrywide.

DDMA continues with CAP in Capital
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: The District Disaster Management Authority Capital Complex in collaboration with the 12th Bn of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) organised a Community Awareness Programme on basic do's and don'ts of Disaster Management at Chandranagar Itanagar on Saturday.
The DC incharge Talom Dupak urged the residents of the area to take advantage of such an opportunity and gain knowledge regarding various safety tips during disasters and how to cope with it in case of its occurrence.
Highlighting the aim of the programme, the FO DM Jogam Angu Gusar informed that the programme would give basic information on how to conduct oneself during disasters.
She also highlighted the working of the Emergency Operating Centre and also informed about the 24 hrs toll free helpline number '1077' issued by the DDMA.
During the programme, the NDRF team gave brief demonstration on the basic steps and techniques of rescue during disaster and also highlighted the use of improvised tools from locally available resources.
The NDRF team displayed several techniques for rescuing people in distress as well as displayed different rescue equipment. The team also focussed more on precautionary measures and rescue techniques during flood as the area had witnessed the same this year.
The programme was attended by the residents of upper valley colony, students from Senki Rijo primary school and others.
Earlier, the CAP was organised in various locations of the capital complex including Bharat Scout and Guide Naharlagun which saw participants from 5 other districts.
Training for GBs
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: A day-
Around 50 Gaon Buras and eight Political Interpreters, PRIs, HoDs and others attended the programme.
DC Mamata Riba advised the GBs & PIs to perform their duties in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 1945. She also expressed that some of Gaon Buras were being grown older and they may not be able to perform their duties with the change in time. As such, time has come to change the authorities with active and educated citizens for better delivery of justice. The GBs expressed their gratitude to the District Administration that they were unaware of their powers since no such programme was organized in the past. They have assured to exercise the powers vested in them under the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation 1945.
Further, Sensitization and training on earthquake and fire disaster was also imparted to PIs and GBs, and a coordination meeting with all HoDs, ITBP, GREF and PRI Members for updation of DDMP Anjaw and preparation of rescue and evacuation plan during disasters was also conducted at Hawai by DDMA Anjaw.
Nitte University facilitates 5 Arunachalee students to visit Mangalore
ITANAGAR, Jul 29: Nitte University, Mangalore has invited 5 students from Arunachal Pradesh as guests of the university to visit Mangalore and Udipi during September this year.
The programme has been arranged at the initiative of Governor P B Acharya. The selected students will be joining another 5 students from Nagaland and 20 from T. Ramona College and Aizawl West College of Mizoram.
Udipi is the hometown of Governor Arunachal Pradesh.
All expenses of the tour will be borne by Nitte University. The exchange programme is facilitated and coordinated by Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai.
The Governor said providing exposure opportunity to the students from Border States, like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram will lay strong foundation for emotional and national integration. PRO to Governor
14 AR averts fire mishap
CHANGLANG, Jul 29: Timely action by the 14 Assam Rifles averted a major fire, which broke out in a wooden residential house in Changlang on Saturday morning.
A Quick Reaction Team of the Army jumped into action and doused the thick flames with fire extinguishers and water blowers.
An electric short circuit is reported to have caused the fire.
The fire could only able cause partial damage to the house. DIPRO
